"Hello Oblivion" Chapter 9: The Longest Night
I’m not particularly experienced with magic. Like any Wood Elf, I can charm animals to do my bidding for a little while, and I managed to learn a minor healing spell one day after getting a splinter stuck under my fingernail, but that’s about it. So when I found out that I could channel the magic of the Shadow Star to turn myself invisible during my most recent jailbreak, I...

Something Other Than Me Being a Dickhead in...
Since it’s been ages since I’ve written a Hello Oblivion, I thought I’d throw a bone to my thousands and thousands of fans. This an editorial-style opinion piece I had to write for a uni assignment, and I figure it’s probably worth putting up here. I was given free reign on the topic, so I decided to write about Australia’s R18+ video game rating controversy, since I...

"Hello Oblivion" Chapter 8: The Law And You...
As fun as it was to sit in my threadbare house and talk to my skulls, I eventually decided to go see Arnora, the jailed thief’s wife.
…
She was saying something about how the arrest of her husband Jorundr wasn’t what it appeared to be…
……
That she’d set him up to take the fall for her crimes, but only he knew where the loot was…

Hello Oblivion
It's probably time I opened a bit of a dialogue with my followers here. Few though you are, your interest is a huge boon to my self-esteem. However, I must announce that I'm dialing down the frequency of Hello Oblivion posts, as it turns out that studying at uni actually involves a little homework. I might be motivated to up the pace a little if I were to discover that more people were interested in what I was writing, but I have no idea how that might be done.
Yours with all due respect and then a little bit more,

"Hello Oblivion" Chapter 7: A Promise Kept
I think I have to confess to succumbing to melodrama with the whole vampire thing. I mean, if you found out you’d become one of the damned and the fallen, the soulless devils with the painted faces, the literal and metaphorical parasites burrowed neck-deep into society…
Ok, there I go again. My point is, it would ruin your day too. I mean I had a great job, spying on completely...

"Hello Oblivion" Chapter 6: Thrice-Damned and...
I’ve been on a bit of a ‘good guy’ thing lately. I guess killing those vampires gave me a bit of an epiphany about the value of giving of one’s self for others. And I’m not just trying to make myself sound good - I could have just left Hackdirt once I figured out they were trying to kill me, but I stayed behind to save the woman they’d captured instead. Doing...

Two things strike me when it comes to the connection between the intricate beauty of nature and supernatural deities. Firstly, so many theists will speak of the wonder of their given god’s work, while denying the existence of things suggested by science that would make the universe all the…

"Hello Oblivion" Chapter 5: The Shadow Over...
At first I thought Hackdirt was a beautiful little village, but something is wrong. I can feel it. Hell, I can taste it. It’s like something crawled into my mouth and died, only it happened so long ago that you couldn’t tell even tell what species it was if you looked now.The food doesn’t quite sate my appetite, and the water doesn’t quite quench my thirst. The sun is too...

"Hello Oblivion" Chapter 4: Dead And Loving It
I felt a little off after killing the homeless guy. A little disconnected. I spent the rest of the day wandering around Chorrol, listening to people’s conversations but not quite daring to join in.
Everything they say seems to relate to me somehow. It’s like they all know what I’ve done, and they’re just playing innocent to torture me. Stop it you bastards! I’ll...

"Hello Oblivion" Chapter 3: The Kindness of...
The road to Chorrol was fraught with danger. Surprisingly energetic crabs hounded me from the riverbanks…
STOP JUMPING. YOU ARE A CRAB. CRABS DO NOT JUMP.
…While Imperial Guards nodded at me pleasantly with their suspicious little eyes.
“Evening, officer!” Seriously, I have no idea if I’m actually on the run or not, it’s very confusing.
The road...

"Hello Oblivion" Chapter 2: The Law and You
Did you know there is an obscure legal code in the land of Cyrodiil that means if you see someone camping in the wild while wearing either leather or fur and carrying any type of weapon, you can immediately attack and kill them under the assumption that they are a bandit? It’s a little weird how few legal rights bandits have in this country. I mean, I’m just a regular citizen...

"Hello Oblivion" Chapter 1: Strange Friends and...
I’ve met people who lost years to the Imperial City Prison. Usually you see them in the cheaper, darker taverns and inns around the city. You can talk to them of gossip, of work, of tales from abroad, but eventually they always turn the conversation to the time they spent in the shadow of the prison tower. They talk of the soul-crushing despair, of the mind-numbing boredom, and most of all...

'Say hello to Oblivion...'
On paper I wouldn’t look like the most loyal Elder Scrolls fan. I’d never heard of it till I got Morrowind as a birthday present when I was 15 or so, and I didn’t have the patience to get into it. I have vague memories of creating a Redguard warrior with zero social skill and wandering around that city you start in, learning valuable life lessons about the importance of having...
